I am a Danish designer, based in Copenhagen, with a bachelor’s degree in product design from Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design in London. I have also studied at Copenhagen School of Design and Technology.

My diverse product design background includes experience with home accessories, furniture, lighting and luxury interiors working with clients such as Fredrikson Stallard, Tomasz Starzewski, Eva Menz, Torsten Neeland, Underdog Studio among others. I have worked on projects for David Gill Galleries, Veuve Clicquot, Iittala, Swarovski, Cartier, The Municipality of Copenhagen, AIAIAI, IO-interactive and more.

As a designer I am driven by a sense of responsibility to improve and understand the complex world we live in. I aim to be relevant to manufacturing industries and businesses by becoming the link between them and their customers. My main purpose as a designer is to explore the use of design as a strategy to create value for manufacturers, businesses and customers. I believe in the importance of developing a point of view to be a visionary leader in the world of design.

To sharpen my point of view I set up an independent design practice in 2017 called Studio Alexander Hinnerskov.

Design and Values Lead …

Studio Alexander Hinnerskov is a design and values lead creative practice working with objects that people interact with on a daily basis. It is a study driven by a curiosity of the deeply subjective and complex meanings and relationships between object and user. The work always has an authentic and honest narrative, which often results in a simplistic aesthetic. The simplicity of objects lets the meaning of the product create relevance to how we live. Contact me for commissions and collaborations.

Through the work of the studio I offer a range of products made available for customers to purchase directly. This gives me an opportunity to gain insights and feedback from consumers and learn how they engage with my products and design practice. The products are designed to be financially sustainable to produce, environmentally responsible to purchase and contextually meaningful to use. As the studio work evolves more products will be offered and added to the website. Follow my development on Instagram

Design as a Process …

I have been teaching at Central Saint Martins in London since 2013 in a variety of design subjects supported by my academic knowledge, practical skills and industry experience. I teach my short courses in product design both online and at the Kings Cross campus. Have a look at the available courses

My role as a design academic is to teach design as a process through theory and hands-on practice. It requires a balance between exploring design ideologies and creating an environment where students have the confidence to experiment with and improve their practical skills.

I offer product design classes for individuals in person or online as well as for bigger groups though project-based learning and guest lectures. The aim is to enable talented students to reach their potential and empower them to explore and develop skills which prepare them for industry and further studies.

  • Tailored lesson plans and well-structured curriculum

  • Objective and qualified assessment of work and skill level

  • Guidance on ways to best showcase and present work and skills

  • Advice on how to edit, organise and prioritise work
